This exhibition explores the transference of information and knowledge, based on how we learn from our elders, our institutions, and our environment.
W. Scott Trimble presents an interactive sculpture. This site specific piece combines the iconic automobile-form with a coating of chalkboard paint, allowing the viewer to scribble upon its surface with chalk. This interactive work is a commentary on the state of art in education, breaking the line between passive, respectful viewer and direct action. Trimble received his MFA in Sculpture (2003) from the University of Washington and has been living and working in Seattle for the past ten years.
Adrian van Dooren's sound installation is comprised of a wall of 27 white speakers and 7 matching tape decks containing blank tapes. Each blank tape sequentially records its information onto the next, amplifying the analogue evolution through the speakers. By diagonally bisecting the gallery space, it creates a physical and sonic diversion. Mr. van Dooren is an artist and musician who lives in Seattle. He received a BFA in Ceramics (2008) from the University of Washington.
