Perspect is the Seattle debut of Portland based installation and video artist Laura Fritz. Her mysterious, minimalist lab-like settings have earned high critical praise, placing her as a key artist in Portland’s recent explosion in art activity and sophistication. “My aim is to catalyze curiosity and inspire mixed feelings of attraction and unease. I am interested in the cool tension that results from the manipulation of natural systems and unnatural settings before the interaction is understood.” -LF “a gorgeous installation. . . . tables lit from below, displaying jellylike objects (and an unforgettable moving, crackling hairball).” -Emily Hall, The Stranger May 29 2003 www.laurafritz.net high rez press image available at www.laurafritz.net/press.htm |
